M.A.C. Retro Matte Lipstick: Dangerous

State: Texas

Area: DFW

Time of Year: finally leaving summer

Climate: nicely cool

Mood: Hilarity Ensuing

M.A.C. Retro Matte Lipstick Pt.2 of 3

Dangerous

Dangerous! That girl is so dangerous!

                                                       -Michael Jackson

I love the color, no doubt. But I seem to have a problem with this particular lipstick crumbling. Even though I balm my lips before application.

An orange-red, Dangerous is in fact living up to its name. The color is bright, bold, and eye catching. Staying very true to the color in the tube.

If only I could figure out how to stop the crumbling then all would be copasetic.

So short and sweet, but keep in mind I will update when I come to a resolution.

    ‘Till next time….

                                                                                              Be bad. Be Dangerous.

M.A.C. Retro Matte Lipstick: Flat out Fabulous

State: Texas

Area: DFW

Mood: Prince of Egypt watchin’ time!

M.A.C. Retro Matte Lipstick Pt.1 of 3

Flat out Fabulous

A cool, blue based fuchsia. This Retro Matte is by far the most rockstar lippe ever! In fact when I went back to the M.A.C. site to purchase a backup, it seemed that a lot of people agreed with me. Buuut who could blame them?

Anyhow thanks to Jack Black’s lip balm as a base, I have no problems with the so matte product drying out my lips. And no worries even with the balm it does not take away from the matte look.

Who wants to do an Olympic victory lap?...This cat. Anyhow…

M.A.C. Matchmaster Foundation

State: Texas

Area: DFW

Time of Year: Whatever Texas decides

Climate: Humid!!

Mood: Netflix time!

And finally… The Foundation

So I know I did a post about the base but it is now time for bum bumbum buuummmm….the actual foundation. Now as the trend seems to be for me…I wear a M.A.C. foundation.

   Matchmaster!

It was safe to say, that when I was fitted for this color of foundation that I was surprised, to say the least, to be matched with a 7.0. Now this line does not use the regular NC/NW classifications for base colors. Which is just fine…I’m just saying. However it is supposed to match with NW40, NW43, and NC45.

Anyway, back to the 7.0, the color in the bottle looks super light for me, but it does oxidize and darkens to fit perfectly. It’s very much medium coverage. You could build, however with its oxidation I don’t advise it.

It has a very matte finish so moisture is KEY! (I’m pretty sure I stated that in the other post.) After a few minutes it settles into a smooth healthy looking finish and if sprayed with Fix+ or whatever sprits you use, it will give off a near dewy look.

My most favorite part of this foundation is the fact that I get NO GREY CAST. That is a problem I (and many women of color) tend to have. And with this…oh man.

Now it took me a while to hop on this train, I admit. It was the promise of a matte finish that threw me. I have combination/oily skin, and I was a-scared that I would end up with dry, caked, flaky patches…and that’s not cute. Buuut with properly cared for skin and a loving primer it is the bee’s knees!!

M.A.C.’s Matchmaster Foundation retails at $34++ and P.S. has an SPF of 15. Sun Protection my friend!

I know it’s a bit on the pricy side (another reservation I had about it…dumping all of that money on something that I would hate) buuut all it takes it 2 and a half pumps and I have even beautiful coverage. I feel that, that justifies things. Anyhow lovely ladies…

Don’t Forget to Stipple and Buff!

Vintage Selection Paint Pot

State: Texas

Area: DFW

Time of Year: Tail end of summer

Climate: Midnight Madness

Mood: Sons of Anarchy!

In a Northpark trip last weekend I made a fortuitous stop at Nordstrom’s M.A.C. section, wherein I stumbled upon two new –for me at least- Paint Pots.

In this post I present Vintage Selection. A pot from the Cham-pale collection.

Now I realized that I haven’t posted any prices for any of these higher end products….shame on me, so I’m starting now.

Paint Pots in stores retail $20 USD here in the DFW as well as the M.A.C. website.

      Anyhow, Vintage Selection!

This pot is a nice frosty champagne. I like it enough, still it has a negative. GLITERY RESIDUE! I seem to have this problem more often than not, for the few pots that I do have. Buuuuut glitter or not this is still an awesome base, in my opinion. Especially when paired with PURPLE! M.A.C.’s Vibrant Grape and Fig.1 is what I used. As well as Dainty in the Pretty Rebels Pallet by Too Faced (to set the crème shadow).

BAM! (wow I’m making use of all caps this post) Popping color and still appropriate for work.

     Excitement for all!
Well that was quick and easy.

Lippies!!

State: Texas

Area: DFW

Time of Year: Tail end of summer

Climate: Midnight Madness

Mood: Upside Down

So these are my first M.A.C. Lipsticks and the first lipsticks that I feel that I will continuously wear to work, out, and even around the house. Lol.

So a little brief background about me. I hate Lipstick!....At least I thought that I did….It was always uncomfortable wearing it, like it just doesn’t fit my face. Or brings too much attention to places I don’t want. But with these lipsticks I don’t feel that way. I think it’s because these finishes smooth on very much like a gloss or chapstick.

The smell is pleasant and its taste is subtle, with no chemical backlash. There is no old lady Lipstick in any way associated with this product. Which is aaawwwesome!

The colors, though one is subtle, are both fun and beautiful! And what can you do but appreciate that?

So for now I only have two (September 5th). But Friday the 6th I will receive some colors from the new Retro Matte Collection. The three lippies and two liners will be the first package I will receive from M.A.C.’s online store. Woot! Woot! I may be entirely too excited. But that’s okay!

Anyhow let me get on before I twaddle on about the random thing that float on in my head.

  ….And we’ll all float on….Alright!

Crème in your Coffee

A big name for such a basic ‘looking’ color. Yet there is nothing ‘basic’ about it. In the tube this product is a brownish, pinky/violet (though in this particular pic it doesn't look it).

It is a Cremesheen and as such applies very smooth and has an appropriate shine, much like a tinted gloss. The only bad thing is that it fades so easily and I don’t have the opportunity to re-apply. But though it does that it doesn’t leave a ring, fading away evenly.

    Lustering

This bright stick is a lustre finish. I love the color. It's pretty much a pro I can't get over. In the tube it is a vibrant magenta. It applies smoothly and evenly and is a lovely cool toned pink. Though same as with Crème in your Coffee, it does fade easily. Still it also leaves behind an even stain, so I don’t feel hard-pressed to re-apply as quickly. Which is again Awesome!

Crème in your Coffee

Tadaaa!!! I

I’m excited to see what new colors will be released or re-released- if any- for the fall. All of a sudden lipsticks are my business!!!  Well...until I find some new shadows. :D

Stay Tuned for the Retro Matte Colors mmmhmm

NYX Jumbo Pencils!!

State: Texas

Area: DFW

Time of Year: Tail end of summer

Climate: Morning warmth

Mood: Antsy!!

Let’s be honest. I got into NYX makeup because I watched entirely too many episodes of RuPual’s Drag Race and Drag U. If too much is even such a thing.
Well it was that and the price.
I love this drug store makeup. It’s an awesome buy whenever I visit Ulta and don’t find any other brands of colors that I fall in love with.
Anyhow…I only have a few of the Jumbo pencils, which is what I’ll be talking about this post, but I use them all lovingly.

Cucumber

This is the only non-shimmery pencil that I own. It’s an almost highlighter green.
A flat shade that has a high color payoff. I use it as a shadow base beneath my L’Oreal Hip Duo shadows in Riotous, with the shimmery green shadow, for the highly pigmented color that I can get.

Next up is Peacock

A beautiful jewel toned blue. This is one of my favorite colors. I wear it beneath M.A.C.’s Electric Eel. Beware though this pencil is very soft and though the color payoff is extraordinary it does tend to crease, even after being set with a powder shadow. That is the only downside, so I tend to wear it when I know that it’ll only be a short while.

Pure Gold

Just as the name claims, this is not a yellow masquerading as a gold. It is in fact a very pigmented bronze gold. You have to experiment with what shadow to pair with this, because with some, it does tend to crease. While with others it will stay for hours.

For example, I’ve worn it as a base beneath M.A.C’s Amber Lights and I creased badly, not three hours into my work night. But with peachy gold in M.A.C.’s Marche Aux Puce Duo- which is a little tougher than soft Amber Lights- I found creasing to not be so much of a problem.

Purple Velvet is a nice jewel toned purple. Very opaque and highly pigmented. It’s not as shimmery as the others but it hold a little more of a sheen. The pencil is not as creamy as Peacock or Pure Gold either and as such, doesn’t crease as quickly as the others. I’ve paired this before with M.A.C.’s Vivid Grape (Can you tell I use a lot of M.A.C.?) and NYX purple eye Trio.

Cottage Cheese is a white sheen. I use this one more as a shimmering highlighter of a base to make bright colors pop even more. Who doesn’t like that? Molto Bene.

'Twas Halloween dress-up at work themed makeup.
Aaaand it's a little example of Peacock and Electric Eel
It was harshly unblended on purpose.

M.A.C. Paint Pots

“Highly pigmented eye colour that goes on creamy but dries to an intense, vibrant finish. Long-wearing, colourfast. Creates seamless coverage without weight or caking. Blends smoothly over the lids. Cream-based, can be mixed with M·A·C shadows and liners.”

Taken from the MAC Cosmetics website.

Sooo…While I’m on Paint Pots (as per my second post at least haha)

Let Me Pop

This Paint Pot is a very shimmery coral.
In the jar, much like another Pot- Frozen Violet- this pot seems to hold a simple shimmer. But it is not as creamy as the others and looks more like a glittery pigment sitting atop the lid. Which is a shame because it’s a little difficult to use on a daily basis. For me I found that this one creased slightly. I’ve only used it once and I’m not sure when I’ll ever use it again.
Sad face. Because it really is a pretty color.

Blackground

Is your basic black shadow. It is very pigmented and a little warmer on me than carbon shows. A greyish black in color with a slight shimmer that is barely noticeable. It works well for a smokey eye but not as well has an overall lid base.

The dark and light purples I used over this pot absorbed into the black and the lack of discernable color just made me sad. But oh well.

I use this sometimes to set my eyeliner when I want a lighter eye, since it creates a nice greyish line. And even though it’s very dark it comes off just fine with a gentle make up remover.

Frozen Violet

    A nice cool, steely, silver-violet.

In the pot it looks like there is only a slight shimmer. But swatched it has ‘glitter’! Now perhaps not fat glitter chunks, but they are large enough to give considerable fallout. Which who wants that? And when removed with a makeup remover it leaves behind a lot of shimmer residue. Now I love M.A.C. Paint Pots especially the Indianwood and I love the color payoff Frozen Violet gives to my purples and pinks.

It’s just the fallout on my under eye and cheeks that makes this pot slightly difficult to use, which is why I like them in the first place- for the simplicity. Still I don’t hate it enough to give it away. I’ll just have to work harder to carve out a time and place to use it.

That is it and that is all. Stay Beautiful!

Basics!!!!

State: Texas
Area: DFW
Time of Year: Tail end of summer
Climate: Afternoon heat

Mood: Eatin’ a fruity Poptart man!

The Foundation but not the Foundation

So I have combination skin with very oily patches and one of the first thing I’ve learned was that for oily skin- contrary to logical belief- I needed more moisture. Go figure right.

Here, we are going to pause on the makeup and talk about skin care. Woot! Woot! Just as important I think.

Before I begin though, I realize that some of these things may not be readily available, this is just what I use and how I use it.

Alrighty, here we go…

First things, if I’ve had a sweaty or makeup filled day, it’s time to cleanse gently. For ridding dirt and salt, just rinse thoroughly with warm water. Then pat dry. The only reason why I use warm water is because cold water makes me uncomfortable and unwilling to put it near my face ha.

For makeup- for now- I’m favoring Hard Candy’s Take it Off lotion makeup remover. Which claims to remove glitter, waterproof mascara, eyelash glue and any other heavy duty makeup. Now I use this on my face after I’ve cleaned my eyes with Revlon’s Gentle eye makeup remover for waterproof mascara. Which it does!

Rinse with warm water and sprits with Lush Cosmetics Eau Roma Water Toner

    As For pre-Makeup.

I use Liquid foundation, more specifically, M.A.C.’s Matchmaster Foundation. It has a very matte finish and works with the natural oils of your face. So that means for the dry patches, unless I want to have a flaky face, I have to moisturize and protect.

Taken from Lush Cosmetics Website

Lush Cosmetics Full of Grace

This claims ‘Our solid moisturizing serum is packed full of hydrating tropical butters, calming chamomile and antioxidant mushroom extract to keep your skin in fantastic condition, all year round. Easily absorbed by the skin, Full of Grace creates a soothing treatment for the face. This preservative-free bar is a staple product; it’s the kind of treatment you should give your skin to maintain its elasticity, moisture and glow.’

Basically…Yay Moisture!!!

Then Simple Smoothing Facial Scrub

Then Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer With Sunscreen and an SPF of 15
Yay sun protection!!!

Woot! Simple and easy. Tadaa!
